BGC Contracting has a long history at the Wodgina Tantalum operation in the Pilbara, having performed multiple mining contracts for Global Advanced Metals (formally Talison Minerals).

Discovered in 1902, the site is one of the world's largest hard rock tantalum resources and produces 1.4 million pounds of tantalum pentoxide per annum.

CONTRACT MINING

Discovered in 1902, the site is one of the world's largest hard rock tantalum resources and produces 1.4 million pounds of tantalum pentoxide per annum.

BGC Contracting was awarded the contract mining works for the open cut Wodgina tantalum mine site, completing the drilling, blasting, loading and hauling at an average of 1 million tonnes per month. The contract also included maintenance of the mine’s road infrastructure and breaking of oversize rock.

The project was completed efficiently and safely, having zero lost time injuries and consistently achieving above 90% audit scores. Performance on this project illustrates BGC’s commitment to project delivery and providing a safe working environment.
