Project Aurora

Project Aurora is a multi-disciplinary joint venture between BGC Contracting, United Group Resources and Lend Lease for the design and construction of a $955 million Ammonium Nitrate Production facility in Moranbah Queensland.

The completed facility for Dyno Nobel supplies explosives to the resource industry.

CIVIL WORKS CONTRACT

The project was successfully completed with a safety record of 3 million man hours LTI-free as well as no lost time due to industrial disputes.

BGC Contracting brought to the project all civil works associated with the construction of heavy vehicle roads, bulk earthworks of 200,000m² cut to fill, stormwater drainage and concrete works of 12,000m³ insitu foundations. In addition to this, clearing and grubbing, toil soil removal and re-use and lay down pads were also completed.

During the contract, variations were added to the original scope of works, including a process water dam, 3 sedimentation dams and erosion protection works.
