Project Aurora Alliance to Commence Work on Dyno Nobel Moranbah Project

The Project Aurora Alliance Joint Venture Partners, BGC Contracting Pty Ltd, United Group Resources and Bilfinger Berger Services (Australia) will commence works on Incitec Pivot Limited's Ammonium Nitrate (AN) complex at Moranbah in Central Queensland. The total value of the contract is approximately $700 million.

The JV Partners have entered a project agreement with Incitec Pivot's wholly owned subsidiary, Dyno Nobel Moranbah, to deliver the project. The agreement is based on a cost reimbursable model incorporating risk reward regime to ensure the best project outcomes.

The Moranbah project involves the construction of a 330,000 tonnes-a-year fully-integrated Ammonium Nitrate complex comprising ammonia, nitric acid and ammonium nitrate plants and associated infrastructure.

BGC Contracting Executive General Manager Civil Greg Heylen said: "BGC Contracting is looking forward to delivering a first class product under this innovative delivery model. This project adds significantly to our recent entry into the Queensland construction market and fits well with our capabilities."

The Project Aurora team will commence works on the Moranbah project immediately with mechanical works targeted for completion by the first quarter of calendar 2010.
