BGC Contracting Awarded Further Contract at Cape Preston

BGC Contracting has been awarded the concrete foundation installation works on the stockpile underground tunnel for the Sino Iron Ore project.

The contract value is in the order of $70 million and consists of the concrete foundations and tunnel for the material stockpile area.

The Sino Iron Ore project is a large scale magnetite project located at Cape Preston, 100 km south of Karratha in the Pilbara region of WA. BGC Contracting was recently awarded the civil works contract for the Desalination Plant and the concrete installation works for the AG Mill Area for the same project.

Greg Heylen, Executive General Manager Civil said, "This contract award is evidence of our ability to secure repeat works with major clients based on exceptional safety performance and delivering to a program. The Sino Iron Ore project is significant in size and complexity and we are building on our already good relationship with MCC”.

Work on the stockpile underground tunnel works will commence shortly and will finish in December 2010.
