BGC Contracting Wins Second Wodgina Contract

BGC Contracting has been awarded the contract mining at the Wodgina Tantalum Project.

The contract with Global Advanced Metals is valued at $9 million. This award complements the existing contract with Atlas Iron at the adjoining iron ore operation.

The Wodgina mine site is located approximately 100km south east of Port Hedland. BGC Contracting previously had the mining tantalum contract at Wodgina until the global financial crisis and competition from African mines forced the closure of the mine. The scope of work has also expanded as BGC are now undertaking the drill and blast.

Martin Spibey Executive General Manager Mining said “BGC have a long and successful history at Wodgina and we are confident we can deliver the project to the satisfaction of Global Advanced Metals. We look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship”.

Preliminary work is set to begin in immediately with the initial contract duration of 6 months.
