BGC Contracting Wins Macedon Contract

BGC Contracting has been awarded the Access Road at BHP Billiton Petroleum’s Macedon Project.

The package awarded is initially valued at $41 million. The scope includes 300,000m3 of cut to fill and 13km of road construction, which involves 50,000m3 of road base and 3km of culverts.

The Macedon Project is a domestic gas plant that will be operated by BHP Billiton with first production expected in 2013. The plant will have a design capacity of 200 million standard cubic feet per day intended for sale to the domestic gas market in Western Australia. The gas plant will be located 30km from Onslow

Greg Heylen, Executive General Manager Civil said “BGC have a proven record on oil and gas projects and we are confident we will deliver a quality result for BHP Billiton. We look forward to working closely with BHP and expanding our opportunities at the Macedon Project”

Construction is set to commence immediately and be completed by November 2011.
